James joyce portrait young artist6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() University College Dublin Professor Gerardine Meaney and Athena Media previously collaborated with Barry McGovern, the well-known Irish actor, on the podcast series and an iPhone app based on 'The Dead'. The creators of the audiobook for UCD's digital multimedia edition of 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' have considerable expertise in bringing James Joyce's voice to life. The digital multimedia edition of Joyce's first novel was created by a team from University College Dublin as part of the Decade of Centenaries (2012-2022), which celebrates Irish history and cultural heritage. The interplay of these two voices in this reading of the 1916 text represents a unique contemporary interpretation of Joyce's coming-of-age novel, whose themes remain as raw and as relevant today as they did upon their original publication. Rather than featuring a single voice, this reading of the novel creates a dialogue between Joyce's mature voice and that of his younger, remembered self. In 2016, Sam McGovern joined this team to create a full-length audio version of Joyce's first novel. ![]() ![]()

Theft of swords by michael j sullivan6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() As a final note, congratulations to the narrator for not having the dwarf speak with a cod Scottish accent, I never understood that. ![]() The heroes act like PCs, the better PCs at least, and this is a grand inspiration to have playing while you write up plot for something like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or even Rolemaster. ![]() If there are any role-players reading this review then I urge you to buy this audiobook, you'll not find another book which feels more like a game session. ![]() My review title said this was a joy to gamers and I stand by that. Overall an enjoyable, workmanlike performance from both writer and narrator. The stories motor along reasonably well and there are just enough twists to stop them getting predictable and dull. I like the heroes and loathe the villains just as I'm obviously supposed to. The stories in this volume hit all the right fantasy tropes without overusing any or feeling too cliched and the characterisations are interesting and well rounded. There are a couple of errors but nothing that slightly better editing wouldn't have fixed and he has instantly shot into my list of favourite readers, alongside people such as Steven Pacey and Toby Longworth. Michael J Sullivan's work is a joy to listen to, especially since Tim Gerard Reynolds does such a good job on it. I like to have somewhere to go if next week I hear a better book so four stars should be treated as an "excellent". Firstly, let me clarify that I rarely - if ever - give 5* reviews. ![]() Yes please by amy poehler6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() I spent two and a half months in New Mexico doing that and it was just a delight.”īurnett is also a huge fan of Odenkirk, which makes complete sense: Two comedians who changed the game for sketch comedy - “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mr. We were having dinner one night and he said, ‘you know, maybe I’ll write something for you for Saul.’ I said, I don’t care if it’s one sentence. “When they started ‘Better Call Saul,’ I got hooked on that. “I was a big fan of ‘Breaking Bad’ and I knew Vince Gilligan, he’s a buddy and a friend,” Burnett recently told me. ![]() The iconic superstar wound up in a pivotal role in those last six episodes of “Saul” as Marion, an elderly woman who winds up dropping a dime on Saul Goodman – by then going under the alias Gene Takavic - after he enlists her son in some crime. Listen to American treasure Carol Burnett instead. But I’ve felt a special connection to the Vince Gilligan-iverse ever since I had the honor of moderating the first “Breaking Bad” panel at Comic-Con in 2012, and I’ve been moderating “Saul” panels from the beginning. ![]() I don’t hide my love for “Saul.” I’ve been a fan of the show from the very beginning - which wasn’t hard, I know, since we were all “Breaking Bad” obsessives before that. ![]() John marshall life of washington6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The evidence of Marshall’s lifelong attachment to Washington is how hard he worked to express it over so many years. What may have been unusual was the extent to which Marshall’s admiration remained durably undimmed to the end of his own long life more than a half century later. Marshall’s veneration of Washington was not unusual among the officers and men who had served under the commanding general. May he ever experience from his Countrymen those attentions which such sentiments of themselves produce. George Washington resigned his commission as the commander in chief of the Continental Army in a public appearance before the Confederation Congress (then sitting in Annapolis) on December 23, 1783, in his own words “commending the Interests of our dearest Country to the protection of Almighty God.” Eleven days later, from Richmond, Virginia, John Marshall, a former captain in the 7th Virginia Regiment now married, settled down, and practicing law, wrote to his old friend and fellow veteran James Monroe:Īt length then the military career of the greatest Man on earth is closed. ![]() 4th book in twilight saga6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() In typical Twilight form, Breaking Dawn: Part 2 exceeded expectations at the box office and its action-packed and fast-paced plot is why it’s frequently regarded as the best in the franchise. That being said, many believe that several characters had satisfying and fitting endings. ![]() Divided into three parts, the first and third sections are written from Bella Swan 's perspective, and the second is written from the perspective of Jacob Black. The "it was all a dream" plot device isn't an ideal ending and was often referred to as controversial and underwhelming. Breaking Dawn (stylized as breaking dawn) is the 2008 fourth novel in The Twilight Saga by American author Stephenie Meyer. The movie culminated in an epic battle between the vampires and werewolves against the Volturi and it’s safe to say that fans were divided. While each Twilight movie is packed with visual effects, Part 2 is most notable for the infamous, somewhat terrifying CGI baby. Fans got to witness Bella’s first moments as a vampire and the aftereffects of giving birth to Renesmee, with her unprecedented growth in tow. It’s often hard to top the original, however, many believe that Breaking Dawn: Part 2 did exactly that. ![]() Hag seed6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Valuable advice from a high-scoring former student who shares tips and tricks for studying Hag-Seed that you won’t find anywhere else!.Hag-Seed sample essays, with commentary from an A+ English student.Highlighted vocabulary words for you to learn and integrate. ![]() A comprehensive quote bank, arranged by key themes so you know what evidence to use for any essay.A breakdown of the major themes and ideas in Hag-Seed.Hag-Seed character analysis, with dissections of character motivations and journeys, as well as the significance of each character in the text as a whole.Detailed analysis of the entire novel, chapter-by-chapter, covering the most useful quotes and plot points. Background information covering the authorial context and setting.A nutshell summary that gives you a 1-2 page overview of the text’s most important ideas.Looking for Hag-Seed summary and analysis?
